2019 Lunar New Year Dragon Boat Races

Colour City Dragons competed in the 2019 Year of the Pig Lunar New Year Dragon Boat Races at Darling Harbour on Saturday 9th February. We had 28 members compete as 4 crews in 8 heats. The target was to complete a race in a competitive sub-minute time which we did!!  – three times – Race 17 Senior B Mixed 59.33, Race 53 Senior A Open 59.24 and then Race 61 with a time of 58.83 in the Premier Open – the last race of the day for us.

There were also 8 new team members who paddled with us for the first time in a regatta at Darling Harbour. So thank you to all who competed and supported to make the day of racing such a success including coach, sweeps, drummers, race secretary, crew managers, boat loaders and unloaders, photographers, snack makers, pep talkers, volunteers, place savers, social organisers and cheer squad. It was a team effort!

2018 Western Region Regatta

The 8 western region clubs are working together to develop the 2018 Western Region Regatta which this year will be held on Sunday 4 November at Bathurst’s  Chifley Dam.

We’re hoping for a calmer day than met us when we paddled at the Bathurst Bicentenary Regatta in October 2015. We were almost swept away by the wind (and our sweep did indeed go overboard!).

June and Jas are representing Colour City on the organising committee so if you have any suggestions please contact one or both of them and they will take your suggestions forward.

More information is available on the Regatta website.
